Little Oak Co-op
Our Little Oak/Ilan Katan co-op serves intown Atlanta families looking for outdoor programming that promotes interfaith and multicultural understanding and is inclusive of children with diverse learning needs. Through forest school and enrichment programs informed by Jewish values, but open to all, young children will develop an appreciation of nature through hands-on outdoor learning and play in all seasons and will explore local wildlife habitats through the lens of environmental responsibility and respect for all beings. This co-op is a grassroots effort spearheaded by community parents and educators. We frequently partner with Ma'alot Atlanta, PJ Library, and other organizations to host community events.
Preschool
Little Oak (Ilan Katan) Forest School opened in September 2024. A mixed-age class of children ages 3-5 years old participates in nature exploration, hands-on outdoor learning, imaginative play, and environmental conservation projects at a public nature area in the Decatur/Toco Hills area in all seasons, rain or shine. We have access to a recreation center in case of severe weather, and a kitchen for cooking activities. Spearheaded by the Atlanta Jewish community, this interfaith preschool co-op is inspired by Jewish values but open to all and designed to promote multicultural understanding. As a co-op, we are a grassroots initiative run entirely by parents and a professional educator under the 501c3 umbrella of Oak Leaf Cooperative Schools.
Days/Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 am - 12 pm, September 3rd 2024- May 29th 2025

Playgroup
Our free, informal playgroup for toddlers and caregivers meets occasionally at public nature areas. Past meetups have taken place at Woodlands Garden, Mason Mill Park, Mulberry Fields, Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve, and Zonolite Park. We are looking for parent volunteers to organize playgroup meetups. Contact liana@oakleafcooperativeschools.org for more information.
